The Commonwealth Soccer Club was established to bring superior training and play to the Central Kentucky area. CSC
promises to develop young talent and prepare them for today's high school and college games.
Philosophy
Commonwealth Soccer Club values hard work, commitment, and excellence both on and off of the field. CSC believes that
a player's commitment to training sessions and games will not only help the club's success, but will also improve each
team's quality of play. We strive to balance soccer, life, and a healthy dose of fun throughout the club. Everything we do is
centered around providing our players with the best experience possible.
Training Methods
Two practices sessions will be scheduled for each CSC team throughout the week. The focus of the practice sessions
includes increasing technical ability and skills, developing team strategy, and addressing tactical issues in an environment
that promotes individual learning. The system of training will be customized for each team for the purpose of advancing the
players' skills and maximizing the team's strengths. At the trainer's discretion, some practices may be designated as a
scrimmage against another CSC or other club team. Training sessions will be ninety minutes in length, and will start and
end on time. All practices take place at Lexington Christian Academy.
Age Groups
CSC teams are designated with a two-digit year that designates a birth year. Players are assigned to age groups based
Kentucky Youth Soccer State rules, which places the player in an age group, based on his or her age on August 1. Here
are some of the key age group differences:
Under 9 - Players in an under 9 age group are placed into the club's Academy Program. The emphasis of this program
is on individual player development and includes a lot of small sided play in training sessions. Travel is limited in this age
group, and all games are considered friendlies that are played when different clubs throughout the state of Kentucky come
together for a day of soccer games.
Under 10 - This age group marks the beginning of competitive league games and tournaments. Games are small-sided (6 against 6).
Under 11/12 - Games are small-sided (8 against 8).
Under 13/14 - Games are full-sided (11 against 11).
Under 15 - Games are full-sided (11 against 11). Teams in this age group typically play high school soccer in the fall, competing for the club in the spring only.

Tryouts
Tryouts are held each year at the beginning of June. Club soccer is a competitive environment by nature, and players are selected for teams based on previous performance (returning players), skill, athleticism, work ethic, and attitude. Based on this criteria, selected players will be assigned to either a Blue or Gold team. Players that make a team are committed to the following fall and spring seasons, where coaches will continuously assess the individual player’s development, performance, and contribution to the team. No player will ever be cut during the season.
Seasons
CSC play is divided into Fall (August - November) and Spring (February - early June) seasons. Teams, depending on their age group and level of play, may typically a month or two off over the winter break, though some teams may choose to play indoor soccer or futsal on their own during that time. The same applies for summer months, where some teams may choose to begin training on their own before the club's official start date.
Games
Most CSC teams also compete in two to three tournaments each season.
Volunteers
One of the cornerstones of CSC is an extensive network of dedicated parent volunteers. These volunteers participate as board members, team representatives, event volunteers, fund raisers, and others who support CSC and its coaches and players in a variety of different ways. CSC strongly encourages parents to get involved in the club, and to help create the best possible environment for our players.
Coaches
CSC prides itself on the quality of our coaching staff. Our highly qualified coaches are dedicated to creating a professional and comfortable environment so that all players of all ages can enjoy soccer and reach their maximum potential.
