Coach Pete Akatsa is a founding member of the Commonwealth Soccer Club and is presently the Director of Club Operations. Since becoming Director in 2007, Coach Akatsa has quickly assembled an immensely talented core group of trainers and coaches for the club. Coach has also established the Commonwealth Soccer Academy which provides an off season opportunity for all competitive soccer players in the Central Kentucky area to improve their foot skills in preparation for the rigors of select club soccer competition.
In addition to his role as Director, Coach Akatsa coaches the CSC 94 Girls Gold team who were champions of
the 2006 Kicker Classic tournament and finalists at the Kick In the Bluegrass tournament in the spring of 2006.
As an athlete, Pete also competed for the Kenyan National Field Hockey Team in the 1984 Olympic Games
where his team defeated the U.S. and Canadian teams. From there, Pete attended Eastern Kentucky University.
Since graduating from Eastern Kentucky University, Coach Akatsa has favorably touched the lives of hundreds
of players throughout his 20 years of coaching middle school, high school, and club soccer teams. During this
period, Coach Akatsa spent 12 seasons as the head coach of the Lexington Christian Academy men’s soccer
team which he guided to the finals of the All “A” State soccer tournament in 2004 and 2006. He was also
individually recognized for his work with the 2003 KHSAA Private Schools Soccer Coach of the Year award.
Pete is also the director of the Akatsa Foot-skills training camps for individual players, clubs and high school
teams.
The Commonwealth Soccer Club is very fortunate to have Coach Akatsa as Director of Club Operations and
appreciates his passion for the game and his desire to train and properly develop CSC players.
